Royal Ascot Week 2011 Day 3

Well not a bad tipping day hope everyone who read the blogg got on, Well Done if you did! Keeping the faith!

Day 3 Ladies Day begins and a very exciting card to look forward to again!.

Race 1 2.30pm 5f

A number of progressive types have a chance here but I'm looking for a rock solid each way chance to start proceedings, a horse that will keep up a blistering pace and be on the front end throughout, the horse that fulfills this criteria without question is PYMANS THEORY. I was at Sandown the evening this horse took to the 5 furlong straight and ran the others into the ground. Tom Dascombe is coming into great form at the moment an upcoming star in flat racing and with Richard Kingsgate who in my opinion underrated this horse has every chance to win at 8/1 you have the option of each way but I think it has every chance to win. Finally, Michael Owen owns a chunk of this horse and he has quite a few in this yard that have developed into smart horses.

Race 2 3.05pm 1m 4f

I've been a great lover of this race over the years, had a few winners from it as well. Last years winner Hibaayeb being one of my selections. Consequently I'm not sure you can go any further than the Godolphin runner RUMH this German bred filly ran a scintillating race at Newbury last time out and that performance illustrated that this horse can get the extra 2f trip. I liked the way the horse ran on easily and will again progress for the run. I make this a third time lucky for Godolphin in this race and with Frankie winning on Rewilding he will be full of confidence. I really think this filly is class!

Race 3 3.45 2m 4f

When we look back in time I'm sure we'll all be talking about Yeats everytime this race comes along. What a class animal he was. However, I really believe this is going to be one of the most intriguing Gold Cups we've had in a while. I mentioned in a blogg a couple of weeks back that sometimes instinct can play a massive role in your selection and I'm picking two horses in this race one of which is a massive long shot at 50/1 that horse is AAIM TO PROSPER, let me tell you why before you say something you may later regret. Now this horse is priced that high because the bookies obviously think he hasnt got a cats chance in hell of winning this prestigious race but let me explain my thinking here. Firstly this horse has credible form around Ascot coming in 3rd in a 2m 4f handicap behind Junior last year won the Cesarewitch at Newamrket on champions day over 2m 2f trip and recently ran a very credible race in fourth at Sandown, I'm not convinced Sandown was a track this horse liked. I also admire the trainer Brian Meehan who's horses are finding form but the most interesting thing for me is the booking of Ryan Moore on board! Now theres plenty of positives to suggest this horse could get in the picture and at 50/1 thats nice value. The other horse I'm selecting at another each way price is BLUE BAJAN, this horse won that race at Sandown that aaim to prosper ran in and this horse won that race going away from the field, still on the bit 2 furlongs out, I really felt that was a terrific win. At 12/1 this horse will also be in the frame, for me the bookies have got the price wrong here and thats only because the trainer and jockey arent household names. Has every chance!

4.25 1m Straight Course

Value, value, value here again. A massive field lots can go wrong but I'm looking at a hose which has won over this distance has been pushed up into the 10f sphere and into Class 1 company and has found its stamina teste that little too much. However over the 8f trip seems to like it I'm talking about a massively overpriced 33/1 shot CAI SHEN. Trained by the Hannon team this horse will like the course and handle the conditions under foot, Moore again in the saddle each way heaven! Come On!
I'm also having SAGRAMOR even if it goes off favourite should still be at an each way price but I'll playing the win here, ran a superb race at Haydock last time out, looked very impressive and looks a progressive type who will strike again. Looks the one to beat.

And thats it again!,
Good Luck some big priced outsiders tipped risky but isnt that what lifes all about!

Grand National Selections.

How I'm feeling about the upcoming Grand National Neptune Collognes - 2012 Grand National hero This time of year never fails to stir the soul both tangibly and metaphorically. After the sun peeps it's head out from amongst the clouds, after the temperature rises, after the first buds are seen on the trees, after the restoration of vitamin d in our blood, after the taste of a crisp cider on a warm day hits the tongue, after many months of wearing trousers I can finally air the paler than white limbs of mine, after...after...after all that April is the month when a new grand national winner is crowned king of the toughest steeplechase in the world. I can safely say without hesitation that this years national is probably the most competitive yet, the handicapper has given everything a chance this year and I'm happy with the three selections that I'll be following. Grand National Selections: Selection 1: Onenightinvienna  Trained by Philip Hobbs ...

A real Christmas Cracker! Kempton Park Boxing Day.

The festive season has begun for me, sitting down with my Santa hat, a mince pie and a pint of guinness all points to a very content and relaxed feel to this weeks blogg. Merry Christmas everyone and boy we got some racing to look forward too. It's important to remember that with over three months or so before Cheltenham the trainers, owners, jocks and all us normal folk are looking forward to seeing a magnificient build up and thats why Boxing day at Kempton park is the place to be. On with the card... 12.50 Kempton 2m Hurdle It was nice to tip TETLAMI last time out at Sandown and I certainly wont be deserting this five year old just yet. Looked a picture in the paddock at Sandown, ran on strongly in the finish and will love softer ground than some of these if indeed it is on the softer side. Nicky Henderson showed his class in training this one to victory after a long lay off. I believe another win is possible and with Barry Geraghty on board I'm full of optimism. 1.2...

Royal Ascot Preview 2013

The centrepiece of our flat season is almost upon us, this time of year when our thoroughbreds have illustrated enough talent on the racecourse they now gain a chance at landing a big prize at Her Majesty's Royal Ascot. My first preview blog of the meeting quite logical focuses on the first day and it's my pleasure to outline my thoughts on the week ahead starting tonight. The main news this week regarding Henry Cecil is extremely sad, as many have mentioned with wonderful prose regarding the publics favourite, a horse handler who cared for his animals with the midas touch and a trainer who had the ambition and determination to never say 'enoughs enough' even when he was down to around 40 horses in the early 2000's or the pressure and stress in his private life. He is and will always be remembered as a true gentleman and a phenomenal trainer. It's also worth noting that he had an absolute terryifyingly good record at Royal Ascot and it just wont be the same w...
