Had a hectic day yesterday so didnt have time to look at the cards yesterday but I was impressed by Advisor's run yesterday. Any how what a week in store for us racing folk lots to be excited about!. Firstly though my attention is firmly on Leopardstown today, a great card and plenty of opportunities to to get my first proper win on this blogg. I have been a little unlucky of late and I'm happy to stick my neck out on two horses which I'm certain will come very close or hack up.
Leopardstown 3.25 7f Listed contest NAP!
ZOFANNY (NAP), I'm very keen on this Ballydoyle colt, Aiden O Brien is in terrific form at the moment and this horse ran a very credible race last time out when losing to a smart horse (Pathfork). The ground that day didnt suit this horse and I believe this horse with entries in all high level grade ones will be the horse to be on. If I'm honest I cant see it being beaten today!. A smart juvenile last season I can only see improvements being made A VERY PROGRESSIVE TYPE.
Leopardstown 3.55 1m 6f
Again a quality race with the like of fame and glory in with a strong chance. However if you look at its last run and I know fitness could of been an issue but Jamie Spencer really had to work for that victory but more importantly the SP at the moment is 2/5 on, thats ridiculous in my opinion and thats why I fancy RITE OF PASSAGE at 4/1 trained by Dermot Weld who won this race last year with Profound Beauty can certainly take the spoils here. This horse has form on all ground and will undoubtedly get the trip. I also like the fact that iin a finish this horse always seems to be staying on and wont give up the chance of winning easily. A strong, powerful contender trained by the master of both codes.
Nottingham 2.50 5f sprint
Heres one for a bit of value and one I think is a strong contender at a massive price, TAGULA NIGHTS at 18/1 trained by Walter Swimburn looks great value. This horses form is very consistent and has a very good cruising speed over both 5f and 6f trips. I'll be pitching this one each way but with a strong view that this horse could win this race.
THE WEEK AHEAD OAKS AND DERBY.
These two contests for many in the flat game is the centrepiece, the holy grail, the world cup final for many a trainer. I'm going to go through my selections and as always explain my thinking behind each.
The Oaks
WONDERS OF WONDER love the name of the horse and t one I think will take all the beating. I have no concern about the trip or the Epsom track as its run at Chester shows it can handle both. Its run in the Cheshire Oaks showed that the horse was staying on at the finish and blew all of her rivals out of the water. Trained by A P O'Brien a trainer who clearly will have a strong hand in this race and one in which I think this horse will win. I say snap up the 9/2 available with Coral.
I will post more in the build up to the Epsom Festival.
